Fillings, Sealants & Crowns

These 3 treatments are meant to treat and prevent further damage to your teeth. Most patients are familiar with fillings, as a startling 91% of adults aged 20-64 had at least one cavity. If you have a cavity, the team at Clayton Dental will add a resin solution to the tooth in order to fill up the hole and prevent infection from spreading throughout the tooth.

A sealant is an excellent way to prevent your teeth from experiencing tooth decay and other damage. Sealants are plastic material that fit in the grooves and fissures of your teeth that tend to attract bacteria and food particles. Dental sealants work by sealing out food and plaque from the areas where toothbrush bristles can’t reach.

If you or your child have a damaged tooth, your dentist at Clayton Dental might recommend a replacement called a crown. A crown is an artificial tooth cap that is placed on top of an existing tooth. Essentially, it takes the pressure off of the existing tooth while also restoring the shape and function for natural speaking and eating.

Endodontics

Endodontics is a special field of dentistry that focuses on dental pulp and tissue surrounding the roots of the tooth. Treatment primarily centers around saving teeth, with an aim of helping you maintain your natural smile for a lifetime.

By focusing on specific procedures such a root canal treatment, surgery and trauma, we’re experts at efficiently managing a wide array of complex dental health problems. Advanced technologies and specialized techniques give us a very accurate view of the insides of teeth and allow us to treat our patients quickly and comfortably.

At Clayton Dental, we offer endodontic services, ensuring that we protect all of our Clayton patients from tooth loss.

Root Canals

A root canal is a treatment that we use to repair or save a badly damaged tooth. Serious tooth decay may result in an infection of the dental pulp inside of the teeth,  and if left untreated, the infection can spread.

Common causes of root canals include a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to that tooth or trauma.

The procedure involves removing damaged or infected dental pulp from inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting it and then refilling it once more. While this may sound scary or painful, technology has come a long way in the last few decades. Root canal treatment no longer causes pain—it relieves it!

TMJ Treatment

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, which is the joint that connects your jaw to your skull. When this joint is injured or damaged, it can lead to a localized disorder called TMJ syndrome. TMJ is caused by a number of things, but common causes include:

  • Damage to the joint’s cartilage from arthritis
  • Damage from an injury
  • Improper alignment of the jaw

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Headaches
  • Earaches
  • Trouble/soreness when opening and closing the mouth
  • Clicking or popping of the jaw
  • Pain in the jaw muscles
  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face

Treatments for TMJ disorders can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite and filling the gaps between teeth. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for all cases. But if left untreated, surgery may be required to repair the damaged joint.

Pediatric Dentistry

Your child’s smile is as important to us as it is to you. But did you know that almost half of children aged 2-11 have experienced some form of tooth decay? Your children’s teeth have special needs and require specific care, and our talented team can provide just that with:
